NEW in 2027: “Flower Power Team Challenge!”

Our Flower Power Team Challenge offers your group seven choices of “Biggest” category and five “Fastest” categories, with the opportunity to win one of two grand prizes! Gather your family, friends, team, club, or school and join the Wildflower Run fun!

Overview

Team categories (grouped into “Biggest” and “Fastest“) are explained below. When you register for the Wildflower Run, you can create a new team, specifying which category your team will belong to, or you can join an existing team. If creating a team, share the team name with others so they can join you.

The Rules

  • Please review the participation requirements of your selected team challenge category (explained below).
  • You must have at least six people on your team in order to be considered for prizes.
  • You must have a team “uniform,” a unique identifier that may be as simple as a colored ribbon pinned to your shirt or a flower lei, or as put-together as matching shirts or costumes.

Perks & Prizes

  • All registered teams will have exclusive access to a Photo Stage at the Finish Fest to meet up with their team, and we will take your team photo. Photos will be emailed to all members of your team.
  • All registered teams will be entered into a drawing for a team gift certificate to a local coffee shop.
  • The winners of each of the Biggest categories (the team in each category with the most registered members)  will be entered into a drawing to receive a Flower Power Grand Prize of a $250 gift card from My Pizza!
  • The winners of each of the Fastest categories (determined by averaging the speed of the fastest six that meet the team requirement in the category ) will be entered into a drawing to receive a Flower Power Grand Prize of a $100 Visa gift card.

“Biggest” Team Category Choices

Team Makeup: Must have at least six team members representing the same school. They may be students at the school, school staff or family members. Team members can sign up for any event (and they don’t all have to be the same event).

Perks & Prizes: All entries get access to our exclusive PhotoStage and will have a group picture emailed to them. The winner in this category will be the team with the most members signed up. The winner will be entered into the Biggest Team Grand Prize drawing.

Applicable Events: 2K Fun Run/Walk, 2K Kids’ Run, 5K Run, 5K Walk, 10K Run

Team Makeup: Must have at least six team members representing the same neighborhood. Team members can sign up for any event (and they don’t all have to be in the same event).

Perks & Prizes: All entries get access to our exclusive PhotoStage and will have a group picture emailed to them. The winner in this category will be the team with the most members signed up. The winner will be entered into the Biggest Team Grand Prize drawing.

Applicable Events: 2K Fun Run/Walk, 2K Kids’ Run, 5K Run, 5K Walk, 10K Run

Team Makeup: Must have at least six adults, each pushing a stroller in the 5K Run, 5K Walk or 10K Run (and they don’t all have to be in the same event).

Perks & Prizes: All entries get access to our exclusive PhotoStage and will have a group picture emailed to them. The winner in this category will be the team with the most adult/stroller pairs signed up. The winner will be entered into the Biggest Team Grand Prize drawing.

Applicable Events:  5K Run, 5K Walk, 10K Run

Team Makeup: Must have at least six team members representing the same youth sports team (i.e. in the same age bracket, with the same coach). Team members can sign up for any event (and they don’t all have to be in the same event).

Applicable Events: 2K Kids’ Run, 2K Fun Run/Walk, 5K Run, 5K Walk, 10K Run

Team Makeup: Must have at least six adult team members who all work or volunteer for the same organization in the 2K Fun Run/Walk, 5K Run, 5K Walk or 10K Run. Not all members of the team have to be entered in the same event.

Applicable Events: 2K Fun Run/Walk, 5K Run, 5K Walk, 10K Run

Team Makeup: Must have at least six team members representing the same club or class (e.g. hiking, Boy/Girl Scouts, book club, water aerobics etc).  Team members can sign up for any event (and they don’t all have to be in the same event).

Team Makeup: Must have at least six team members who consider themselves friends or family. Team members can sign up for any event (and they don’t all have to be in the same event).

“Fastest” Team Category Choices

Team Makeup: Must have at least one person on your team in the 5K Run or 5K Walk in six of the eight age groups: ages 10-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70-79, 80+. Note that you are welcome to have more than six members on your team.

Calculating Your Time: To determine your overall team time, we will take the average of the six fastest people on your team who fulfill the team requirements (i.e. each of the fastest six must be from a different age group).

Perks & Prizes: All entries get access to our exclusive PhotoStage and will have a group picture emailed to them. The winner in this category will be entered into the Fastest Team Grand Prize drawing.

Applicable Events: 5K Run, 5K Walk

Team Makeup: Must have at least two team members in each timed race (2K Kids’ Run, 5K Run, 10K). Note that you are welcome to have more than six members on your team.

Calculating Your Time: To determine your overall team time we will take the average of the six fastest people on your team who fulfill the team requirements (i.e.two fastest in 2K Kids’ Run, two fastest in 5K Run and two fastest in 10K Run).

Applicable Events: 2K Kids’ Run, 5K Run, 10K Run

Team Makeup: Must have at least three parent/*youth pairs on your team that run the 5K race (but you are welcome to have more than six people on your team). *A youth is defined as age 18 or under on race day.

Calculating Your Time: To determine your overall team time, we will take the average of the fastest three parent/youth pairs on your team.

Perks & Prizes: All entries get access to our exclusive PhotoStage and will have a group picture emailed to them. The winner in this category will be the team with the most adult/stroller pairs signed up. The winner in this category will be entered into the Fastest Team Grand Prize drawing.

Applicable Events:  5K Run

Team Makeup: Must have at least six people on your team who do the 5K Run. Note that you are welcome to have more than six members on your team.

Calculating Your Time: To determine your overall team time, we will take the average of the six fastest people on your team in the 5K Run.

Team Makeup: Must have at least six people on your team who all belong to the same youth sport/dance/gymnastics team run the 10K Run. Note that you are welcome to have more than six team members.

Calculating Your Time: To determine your overall team time, we will take the average of the six fastest people on your team in the 10K run.

FAQs

Q. Can I join a team after I have registered?

A. Yes! It is easy. Simply login to RunSignup, click Manage Registration, click Group/Team on the left sidebar and then, from the pop-up, select Join Existing Group/Team.

Q.  Can I be part of more than one team?

A. No, sorry, you will have to choose just one. You may, however, switch yourself off of one team and onto another up until the Saturday of race day weekend.

Q. Is there any discount code associated with the Flower Power Team Challenge?

A. There is no automatic discount. As always, we encourage groups of 10 or more to email WFR-registration@aauwmh.org t0 request a discount code prior to registering. (Then, when you register, you will enter the discount code on the final checkout screen.)

Q. What if a member of my “Fastest” category team is unable to race on Sunday due to an unforeseen event?

A. If this absence will leave you with only five team members participating, please contact WFR-teamchallenge@aauwmh.org prior to race day to transfer that member’s entry to another runner in the same event category.

Q. How will you count team members in the “Biggest” categories? Will a team member be counted if they do not walk/run on race day?

A. For the “Biggest” categories, the final count is the number of people signed up for the race (and hopefully they are able to come participate on race day).
