The Wildflower Run Goes Virtual!
Why a Virtual Run?
With the rapidly evolving restrictions on public gatherings, we are no longer able to safely have the Wildflower Run participants all together in a single physical location.
We are a non-profit, all-volunteer event. All proceeds go toward local scholarships, leadership programs, community grants, and more. We are excited that a virtual run will enable the runners to join in the fun, get their swag, and support our causes. And we want you to stay healthy!
What is a Virtual Run?
A virtual race is a race that can be run or walked from any location you choose. You can run, jog, or walk on the road, on the trail, on your home treadmill, or on the track. You get to run your own race, at your own pace, and time it yourself. And, before your run, your tee-shirt and other swag will be waiting for you at the designated packet pickup location (or you can request it to be mailed to you before your planned run date).
If a virtual run sounds difficult because you don’t have a wearable device like a Fitbit or Garmin, there are budget-friendly options to track your run/walk. Strava and MapMyRun are just two of many free fitness apps available for download from the app store. Just open the app of your choice and carry your phone with you while you exercise. Or, for a simpler, lower tech solution, you can download our 5K or 10K route maps and follow our route at your convenience.
Participate in our Virtual Wildflower Run
With the ever-changing restrictions from government agencies on public gatherings, we have tentatively scheduled our virtual run for between Sunday, April 19 and Sunday, April 26.
How Do I Get My Swag?
If possible, we would like you to come by a designated (TBD), drive-through packet pickup location, tentatively scheduled for April 18 and 19. If you are unable to come to a packet pickup and would like your packet items, please email us at info@WildflowerRun.org with your name, email, registration information that you received from Active, and t-shirt size/s, and we will mail your items to you.
What Will Be In My Packet?
We’ll get to you: Tee-shirts, run bibs, goodie bags, 2K Kids’ medals (for any registered child, age 10 and under), bonus baby-tees (for stroller riders), and Jamba Juice coupons for all (since we can’t give out the real thing on-site). Goodie bags will contain coupons, flyers about other runs, and cool items from our sponsors.
Are There Prizes?
In lieu of winner prizes and medals, we’ll be giving everyone an opportunity for prizes! Post photos of you, your friends, or your family running in our Virtual Wildflower Run (include an identifiable image of your bib number so we can connect it with your name and address), and be entered into a drawing for lots of great prizes. Post to our Facebook page or tag us on Instagram or, if you aren’t on social media, send us your content and we’ll share it. Post your photos and comments through April 15, 2020 to be entered into our drawing. Contest details will be available here soon.
